Faith Formation 4th-8th grades:

Last summer after meeting with All Saints catechists, the Council for Catechesis determined that All Saints will begin to move forward with establishing the 3rd and final level of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (link to other page). This transition process will be implemented over the next 4-5 years, adding one grade level each year. This means that if a child is currently in 3rd grade or below, they will have the opportunity to continue in CGS through 7th or 8th grade. If a child is currently 4th grade or above, we will continue to offer the traditional textbook style of catechetical instruction for them up through 8th grade.

Our 4th-7th graders are currently using the Harcourt Press text called Call to Faith, while our 8th grade Confirmation class is using a text called Confirmed in the Spirit. The children and parents in these classes also have the opportunity to participate (and sometimes take a leading role) in a weekly large group prayer service led by our music ministers and our Director of Faith Formation.

These children have monthly opportunities to frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation during class time, as well as to become more involved as cantors, as well as in percussion and choir. Over the course of the year, children and families participate in the Procession of Saints on our parish feast day, November 1st, a yearly Christmas program as well as caroling opportunities, a parish Mardi Gras party, and retreats and youth group activities such as the exciting role playing game called AD 64 Romans and Christians.
